![]() EMI was a British institution that was formed in 1931 and disbanded in 2012 as they were sold to Universal Music Group. It was one of the most successful music companies in the world during the 1960's with stars such as Frank Sinatra, Cliff Richard and the groups such as The Beatles. In the 1970's signings included Pink Floyd and the 2000's brought about Snoop Dog. A lot of the success of EMI came from subsidiary labels such as HMV, Capitol records and Columbia. | ![]() Created in 1929 under the name American Record Corporation and has been renamed many times since before taking its final name in 1991. It is currently the second biggest music company after Universal Music Group. Since 1929 they have had huge stars sign with them such as Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. | ![]() This is the biggest music recording company in the world. It was founded in 1934 as Decca records and received a revenue of $6.552 billion in 2013 which was predicted to be about 40% of the worlds music market. The logo it has been suggested, implies their success and world domination with the use of the globe in the logo. Many stars such as Justin Bieber have even founded their career on YouTube. It is a very easy site to use with relatively no costs and its simple logo with the contrasting red and white is known globally. |

They have since changed hands many times as well as signing many big name stars such as Madonna, Oasis, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. The logo again is very simple but the contrasting colours brings lots of attention to it. | ![]() This is a streaming service which has recently emerged and has enjoyed huge popularity. It was launched in 2008 and has already got 100 million users. There is also the option to pay for premium Spotify which allows the user to download songs, skip, replay and create playlists. In total about 30 million users have paid for the premium option. Due to the success of the app it has been released worldwide. |
